MagCalc allows you to conveniently convert between the most common magnetic units and properties:
- Magnetic field strength, flux and flux density
- Volume and mass magnetisation
- Molar, mass and volume susceptibility
- Magnetic dipole moment
- Energy product
- Permeability
Unit conversion is easily triggered by choosing the property and typing in the value of the unit you want to convert. Conversion to many other units is then performed on the fly while you are typing.
It is also possible to convert units from one property to another by providing additional information such as the density and/or molar mass of the system you are investigating. In this way, e.g. the units of volume magnetisation can be calculated from the mass magnetisation or vice versa.
In addition, a tool for the calculation of the demagnetisation factor of cylindrical sample shapes or parallelepipeds is included.
MagCalc also contains a table of the most common physical constants used in magnetism in cgs and SI units.
It contains a periodic table as well. Just tab on an element to see detailed information
- Electronegativity (Pauling scale)
- Melting and boiling point in Kelvin
- Atomic weight
- Electron configutation
- Magnetic transition temperatures (if available)
or double-tab elements to select/deselect them. You can then calculate the molar mass of a compound consisting of your selected elements, copy the value and use it for one of the conversions.

- Demagnetisation factors are calculated by numerical methods and might not work for all possible values you type in. In that case, you should be warned by a short message.
